[OS X TeX] Texshop: strange problem with French letter

Since I upgraded to Tiger, I cannot use any more iTeXMac, which has  
some incompatibility issues.

So I reverted to use TeXShop, who has indeed drammatically improved.

I have a strange problem: when typing "ç" ("C cédille" in French, I  
do not think this is used in other languages, forgive my ignorance),  
I do not get "ç" but "\c c". Would anybody have any idea why this  
happens, and how to work around/correct this ? At the moment the only  
way I found to keep writing is to write the "ç" in another  
application such as Mail, then copy/paste.
