[OS X TeX] Large Figure in Document? (and slow response of TeXShop)

Besides converting to a more efficient graphics format, you could
simply comment out the inclusion of the figure while you're working on
the paper or, if you want the space occupied by the figure to be
displayed, then I believe that the "draft" option in the article and
derived classes does this for you.
