The following tree has no PS or EPS content. These are all your own 
additions to teTeX. They do not belong to the system. If you want to 
make a test without this tree, just rename texmf to something different 
(orig-texmf for example)!

affect the behaviour of your system.

Instead of installing the Ghostscript i-Package you could try Fink's 
Ghostscript. Install it before you install TeX from i-Package. Add to 
your shell's RC files the path to gs in /sw/bin, or create sym-links in 
/usr/local/bin pointing to gs and the other binaries of this package 
('ls -ltr /sw/bin' would list the newest members in /sw/bin as last 
items to easily create the necessary sym-links). Then you would need to 
remember to delete these sym-links before installing the Ghostscript 
i-Package.


Of course you could invoke simpdftex in Terminal (or another shell) to 
see if it tells you more why it fails with the EPS file.
