Make sure you say

	updmap

and not

	sudo updmap

because the latter will write root-owned files in your personal texmf  
tree. If you want a system wide effect, install in /usr/local/teTeX/ 
share/texmf.local, run texhash and use "sudo -H updmap-sys"
