Hello:
I am a complete Tex Virgin (Mac expert, but UNIX virgin) trying to
use a package called Hiero to typeset Egyptian hieroglyphs.
Everything works great (except that the output quality is not
sufficient) as long as I do NOT use the postscript fonts like so:
\usepackage{hiero}
But if I try to use the PostScript fonts like so:
\usepackage[psfonts]{hiero}
I get the following errors:
=====================
This is pdfeTeX, Version 3.141592-1.21a-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.4)

OK, so, Tex can't find the font files. I tried reinstalling them and
fixing permissions, but that did not help.
I tried the following:
=====================
[Yann-Ricards-Computer:~] yannrica% kpsewhich --progname=pdftex
HieroR.pfa
/sw/share/texmf/fonts/type1/HieroR.pfa
[Yann-Ricards-Computer:~] yannrica% ls /sw/share/texmf/fonts/type1/
HieroR.pfa
/sw/share/texmf/fonts/type1/HieroR.pfa
=====================
I manually checked the files were there as follows:

===========
I then checked the contents of the config files
The pdftex.cfg has the line
% This shows how to add your own map file.
% Remove the comment and adjust the name:
map +hierofonts.map
map +diacrFonts.map
and the config.ps has the lines
% This shows how to add your own map file.
% Remove the comment and adjust the name:
p +hierofonts.map
And, yes, I ran sudo texhash after I installed.
What could I be missing?
