Reading it is, but the practice in the U.S. is to write 28/09/2005 and, 
in the U.S., do as the U.S.ans do.

Possibly more to the point, aside from the argument that it would seem 
desirable that it is the computer that ought to defer to the user than 
the user to the computer, you don't teach new tricks to an old dog. And 
this dog IS old.
