[OS X TeX] \mathfrak treats one character at a time

  Hello all,

 if I write ${\mathfrak sp}(...)$ in the source file, only the ``s"
appears in gothic. The p
is in ordinary math italic. So I have to write $\mathfrak s \mathfrak p$
to denote
the symplectic algebra. This would be annoying for longer words to be
written in gothic
style. Is this a bug, or are there reasons for it ?
