[OS X TeX] Entering specially formatted items in the index

Now that the real important dust seems to have settled a bit, could 
anyone help on how to index curly brackets?

By the way, and I am not being sarcastic, the dust was fascinating from 
any number of viewpoints and I even did learn a few things.
