That's probably a good idea (and not so hard to do).

But using a UNIX symlink instead of a Mac OS alias could be worth a  
try, too.
(SymbolicLinker is a nice frontend to create symlinks if you don't  
want to do it in the Terminal: <http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/
