I think you are using Times as default roman font and an Unicode  
encoding ... Can you show a bit more from the file's header?

If my assumption is right you would need to create a Font Definition  
(.fd) file that maps an Unicode input encoding to (some?) font  
encodings. But honestly, I never tried to use Unicode in LaTeX!

Which version of TeXShop are you using? I have 2.09 and 1.43 on Tiger  
(10.4.4) in use and both allow me to copy from the console's output.  
I *can* remember that years ago this did not work on Panther, and I  
have no idea whether it was a Panther or a TeXShop item ...
