As Siep suggested, print the file to PostScript using Adobe Acrobat/ 
Reader, re-distill, preferrably w/ Adobe Acrobat Distiller set to  
match the printer's specs (usually the provide a .joboptions file for  
Distiller or specifics of how they'd like it set up)

Since Acrobat (or the reader) knows the encoding it's able to re- 
encode the font to match the text.

As Peter noted, there are potential hazards, and you should check  
pages carefully --- Acrobat 7's compare documents feature is  
invaluable for this.
