Howdy,

Given the propensity of Word users to use the default Times,  
Helvetica and Courier fonts I'd try

\usepackage{mathptmx}
\usepackage{helvet} % no scaling since ``they'' wouldn't
\usepackage{couriers}
\normalfont
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage{textcomp}
