[OS X TeX] using \usepackage with other .sty files

Howdy,
sounds like you've got a document that starts with a \documentstyle
{...} command rather than \documentclass{...}. LaTeX then tries to
act like LaTeX 2.09 and doesn't understand \usepackage.
