[OS X TeX] Problem with Spotlight importer(s)

Now that the newest TeXShop includes a TeX Spotlight importer, I have
just attempted to index the relevant area of my home directory:
mdimport ~/Documents/
and was expecting to index afterwards the gwTeX area:
sudo mdimport -f /usr/local/teTeX/
Alas: while processing "mdimport ~/Documents/", my Mac came to
practically a halt (Finder and Safari had to be Cmd-Alt-Esc'ed) and
Terminal is now filling up with messages such as:

and so forth. Not one importer seems to be affected, but practically
all of them (dealing with PDF, EPS, TEX, Mathematica files,
Illustrator files etc.). DVI files are apparently indexed OK (I have
Adam Maxwell's DVIImporter.mdimporter installed).
Could this be related with TeX.mdimporter eating up too much memory
and affecting henceforth the other importers, or is it disconnected?
My setup has 1GB RAM. I'm not sure I had ever attempted to index ~/
Documents/ previously, though I think I did index / once.
And now: to get back to a clean setup, what is necessary? Just running:
mdutil -E
Or is more required?
