Although your command works, the proper name is "TeXShop" ...
In my defaults I have: "KeepBackup = YES;" -- the ";" is only in the
output of the read command.
For me this happened when doing a change to a TeX source:
-rw-r--r-- 1 pete pete 8853 18 Jan 00:33 FaZu0501.tex
-rw-r--r-- 1 pete wheel 8852 17 Jan 17:10 FaZu0501~.tex
and then un-doing it:
-rw-r--r-- 1 pete pete 8852 18 Jan 00:35 FaZu0501.tex
-rw-r--r-- 1 pete wheel 8853 18 Jan 00:33 FaZu0501~.tex
