Howdy,

Try the scrtime and scrdate packages:

%!TEX TS-program = pdflatex
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[12h]{scrtime}
\usepackage{scrdate}
\begin{document}
The date is: \todaysname, \today; The time is \thistime.
\end{document}
