[OS X TeX] ... Line Numbers

Excuse ME!  If I interrupted some on-going discussion.

Is it possible --- to put line numbers (using an appropriate package)
when one compiles (a 25 page document) so that respondents can then  
refer
precisely to "where" we have a problem? Such that, --- if I turn off  
the package,
the line-numbers disappear.  It sure would be nice (convenient).
