[OS X TeX] \special{papersize=7in,10in}

This is a real puzzle. At home, \special{papersize=7in,10in} works and in the preview window I see a 7x10 page. At work, \special{papersize=7in,10in} does not really work -- the preview shows a letter size page.

Really exasperating. The two installations are identical -- i-Installer says they are up to date, and I am using beta2 of TeXShop on both machines. I'm using TeX and ghostscript

What have I overlooked?
