[OS X TeX] Placing eps figures

Jens,

No criticism of your work was stated or implied in my e-mail. Your  
help was greatly needed and appreciated.

I also realized that my requirement: to reproduce a whole page of  
typeset LaTeX as an eps file (for inclusion in my LaTeX book) is not  
shared by many. The typical user need to copy only a formula onto his  
Illustrator document from the typeset source.

It is the help of experts like you and Gary (and of course Dick and  
Gerben, and lots of others) that makes this community so pleasant and  
rewarding to participate in. Thank you all for your indispensable  
help and generosity.
