Yes. However, it is not straightforward: the unpacking of the archive  
isn't painless (the various utilities I used choked  on it)

The compiled binaries cannot be used (they are Windows or Linux  
only). I believe one can use the perl script provided instead. At  
least the Ave Maria example compiled/spaced fine...
Just a question: why no use musixtex? It is somehow easier to install  
(this happens automagically if one uses i-Installer) and is still  
maintained (or has been so until last year), whereas opustex seems  
untouched since 1998.
Sorry I can't elaborate right now as students have an uncanny way of  
disappearing when one is late...
