I'm sure you're right.  However, appreciation doesn't pay bills or recoup lost personal/family time for most open source developers!

Scott Prahl has been great about adding/fixing features in latex2rtf, so you might consider filing an enhancement request on their sourceforge project page.  Jurabib has so many options and features that full support might not be possible (I don't recall the details of latex2rtf's bibtex handling).
