I'd be irritated if you didn't ask an off topic question now and then.
The key phrase being "now and then".
You adequately labeled your message. It's not wasting bandwidth.

Concerning matrices and matrixes---condensed from the Tiger dictionary:

	matrix ...
	noun ( pl. -trices ... -trixes )

So both plural spellings pass.

I spell it matrixes, because matrices looks odd, the same for Indexes
and Indices. Just
my preference. But academicians probably do it the other way. This is
one of the fun things
about a living language---the one who can change it and help keep it
alive is you.
How cool is that?

this one is not necessary wildly off topic, because LaTeX makes some
assumptions
about proper formatting of documents, plus word usage.

Anyway, here is how you can change at least some of that:

\renewcommand{\indexname}{{Indexes}} % :)

The defaults (I think) of others you can change through renewal:

\chaptername{Chapter}
\contentsname{Contents}
\figurename{Figure}
\listfigurename{List of Figures}
\tablename{Table}
\listtablename{List of Tables}
\bibname{Bibliography}
\indexname{Index}
