Indeed it is a FAQ (http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/AquamacsFAQ), and
one which I also asked. The trick is to replace global-map with
osx-key-mode-map after which it should work. I'm not sure if it makes a
difference if it appears in .emacs or Preferences.el.
