[OS X TeX] ! LaTeX Error: File `pdfsync.sty' {and topcapt.sty] not found

Herbert,
after removing a pdfsync.sty file which had slipped into the home
folder I repeated the command and got:

Last login: Sun Mar 5 00:11:47 on console
Welcome to Darwin!
[62-87-126-135:~] winfried% kpsewhich pdfsync.sty
/Users/winfried/Library/texmf/tex/latex/pdfsync.sty
[62-87-126-135:~] winfried%

The subsequent typeset run finished successfully now. In order to see
if the double placement of the file was the problem I reintroduced it
into the Home folder, but it still runs allright. So I have no idea
what made the program protest in the first place.

The pdf syncing does not work though. When I clik on the pdf file I
do not get the very welcome yellow patches on the source file anymore
and viceversa clicking into the source file does not produce the
beloved red ellipses. I suspect something has been reset !?

Greetings
Winfried

Howdy,

It's finding a pdfsync.sty file in your HOME folder!? Run after you
cd to the directory where your .tex file resides. Make sure the
pdfsync.sty file really is in ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/.

Good Luck,
