You can use \multicolumn
It accepts more parameters: the number of columns
it spans, the formatting parameters (you can put
a "c" to center it: do not forget to add | or ||
if the last of the spanned columns ends with | or
|| or whatever you had in the description of
the tabular environment, say) and then the content.
You can get thus also those nice effects of different
texts centered at different places.
