An alternative involving LaTeX as well, and producing "curlier"
braces than \underbrace or \overbrace: typeset in LaTeXiT the input

%\Bigggl\{ \quad
%\bigggl\{ \quad
\Biggl\{ \quad
\biggl\{ \quad
\Bigl\{ \quad
\bigl\{

(the first two lines are for the Lucida fonts which include the
additional sizes). This will produce a "catalog" of the curly braces
that LaTeX can produce. Export as PDF, then open in Illustrator, and
then copy/paste, resize and rotate at will.
