[OS X TeX] comment character in bib-files

Hi list

I would like to comment fields in my bib file so they don't appear in  
the bibliography. As far as I know the comment charcter % doesn't  
work but what can I use instead? I don't want to delete the fields.  
The stored information should just not appear in the bibliography. I  
use bibliography style plain and do not plan on writing my own style  
(seems to complicated).
