Nonsense! It's only /usr/local/bin/gs, that is used from inside TeX  
Font Outliner, which has X11 support enabled. It's probably just used  
to convert formats. This can also be done with gs-noX11 or such, you  
just would need to change the sym-link /usr/local/bin/gs to point to  
the right programme.
