[OS X TeX] MacTeX inputs

Paul,

These fail, perhaps because I'm using plainTeX.

I haven't used LaTeX since 1994, and I've forgotten all the preamble 
commands. Lamport's book stayed with my employer when I retired in '94. 
I've had a love affair with Textures (from Bluesky) since then---up to 
the conversion to OS X.
