Claus,

this behaviour of your script cannot be accepted. Shell RC files are  
meant to do more than set a PATH or path. They set up a few  
(approximately one tenth of infinity) more things. Throwing this away  
is more than ignorance.

Using such a silly extension like ``-old´´ might be OK for a  
kindergarten or as a joke. More practical is a date. Which also  
allows to create n different copies – or less, if there wouldn't be  
enough disk space on the volume.
