Being an engineer who does a fair bit of mathematics, I can tell you  
that engineers are no more (or, probably, less) worried about the  
content of their papers than are mathematicians. It is really a  
matter of culture -- most engineers are not exposed to LaTeX and most  
mathematicians are. Physicists, on the other hand, are another story  
altogether. :-)
