I don't think so. When you give the install shell script (/Volumes/ 
TeXCol2006-2007/texlive/install-tl.sh) interactively the name of the  
installation root it has no other option than to record this in  
texmf.cnf – and from this file all is regulated, and from setting  
TEXDIR (almost) all installation places are regulated as well (the  
exceptions are TEXMFSYSVAR and the distribution independent  
TEXMFLOCAL and TEXMFHOME, which can be chosen independently).

Installing TeX Live in the wrong place is not that bad. You waste a  
few hours on installing and adapting, and within few minutes all is  
gone. Next time you can try to make another mistake ...
