[OS X TeX] OT: looking for a public-domain EPS file editor

That's exactly what I had done: after using MacPorts to install  
ivtools and realize it's an obsolete version 1.0.7, then forget about  
MacPorts, get ivtools version 1.2.4 from its home www.ivtools.org and  
try the usual routine:

./configure
make
sudo make install

But that's what yielded the complaint about missing imake, and  
eventually a refusal of make to proceed. All that on PowerBook G4 17".
