Ups! In fact I wasn't. I tried using xetex, I realize now it should be
xelatex. The error message that I was sending indicates that it
stopped just at the first line. Now with xelatex I get a longer log
file.

Yes, I got those two lines from somewhere else (that I was mentioning,
I think).
I get the same result with any of the two methods (either putting
those two lines at the beginning or configuring TeXShop). However, now
I've got some more problems:
1. I can't use other fonts, such as palatino, because the result is a
very poorly typed sans-serif text.
2. I can't use accents (such as for words in Romanic languages: á é í ó ú).

That's trying with a very simplified version of my document, but I'd
need to use Chinese characters with text in Arabic and Russian, as
well as Latin, that is.
Any ideas?
