[OS X TeX] apacite on stock MacTeX install -- working?

Success!  Thanks, Herb. Your suggestions prompted me to find the
minimal set of file moves necessary to get this going:

~/Library/texmf/bibtex/bib/dissertation.bib
~/Library/texmf/bibtex/bst/apacite.bst (copied from apacite package)
~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/apacite/ (apacite package directory here)

I should have known better and checked for this first thing.  For some
reason, LyX didn't do this for me, and I didn't bother to look.  (This
is probably the reason why it wouldn't work under LyX either.)
