[OS X TeX] kpsewhich pointing to wrong location?

I have never downloaded anything from these sites; and here is what I 

$ ls -l /var/db/locate.database
-r--r--r--   1 nobody  wheel  6138843 Jan 20 16:57 /var/db/locate.database
