AUCTeX does not know /the/ previewer command. I tried to teach the  
AUCTeX developers /the/ previewer command, namely texdoc, but they  
seem to know it better: seven dozen forms of xdvi for different paper  
formats and viewing directions and source specials and PostScript  
inclusions and ... what else? A lot is really documented in the big  
manual.
