That shouldn't occur. \input<something> (without braces) is a Plain
TeX primitive but in LaTeX, \input is a macro that implements some
safety mechanism, when called with an arument enclosed in braces;
otherwise it calls the TeX primitve directly which in LaTeX is called
\@@input.
In short: that shouldn't occur.
