Very good introductory talk! I *think* I begin to undertand what is
this. I might have to consider using something like Subversion in the
near future, and there is a point that has surprised and intrigued me:

All the several (good) recent explanations highlight that the change
controls work by analyzing the files line by line. What if I just add
or delete a few carriage returns, for instance to join two lines that
look too short in the editor ? My (naïve) impression is that
everything would be messed up, and that from that point on all the
lines might appear as changed. Is this really so, or am I missing the
point ? Is there a standard routine to handle this issue ? Or there
is no issue at all ?

Best, and thanks,

JMaF
