One of the things that cvs is not very good at is keeping different
revisions in sync: you can have revision 1.53 for one file, belonging to
revision 1.14 of another. in CVS it is very hard (without tagging) to be
sure that you go back to the situation of a specific date for all files in
a repository. subversion claims to have solved this, although some
Time Machine could actually be a good alternative for simple revision
control for a single user: it uses hard-links to keep all files of a
specific date together (with minimal extra space requirements). All the
extra features (merging different versions, tagging, ...) are generally
not used when working alone.
