This may or may not be relevant:

I use Intaglio which allows me to

	SAVE AS … graphic.intaglio in one folder (for editing)

	SAVE A COPY AS … graphic.pdf (cropped to contents for  
includegraphics) in another folder

It remember both folders and the work flow is thus minimal.
