If your figures involve eps figures of any kind or use pstricks you
can simply compile with latex->dvips->ps2pdf (simpdftex latex) by
either changing to ``TeX and Ghostscript'' and compiling or, better,
putting the line

%%!TEX TS-program = latex

as the first line of a document which will tell TeXShop to use the
latex->dvips->ps2pdf path.
