Apologies, all; the Strunk and White was written by William Strunk
and E. B. White (the author of the children's classic Charlotte's Web
and for many years a fixture at the New Yorker magazine), and is
properly called The Elements of Style.

You can probably find very cheap copies at www.abebooks.com if you're
curious; it may even be legally on-line somewhere, as it was
originally written about eighty some years ago. White revised it from
a sort of self-published book he'd gotten from his professor, Strunk,
while an undergraduate.
