No. You should have gotten the following warning when you compiled your file:
Package hyperref Warning: Token not allowed in a PDFDocEncoded string,
(hyperref) removing `math shift' on input line xxx
You simply can't put any formatting into the pdf bookmarks (including
math, italics, colour etc.). See section 4.1 of the hyperref manual
for some possible workarounds.
