[OS X TeX] Help --- I cannot get mptopdf to work

Why is there a *private* MAP file? Obviously it's faulty. To correct  
it there are two choices: remove it, or:

run in Terminal (or such)

• sudo updmap-sys --listavailablemaps | sort
• updmap --listavailablemaps | sort

Then:

• compute the difference between both lists
• enable at least a few Latin Modern related MAP file fragments your  
private MAP file does not have
• MP to PDF again
