[OS X TeX] Quotation marks question...

Normally I just do my math homework in LaTeX, but I did a paper for a
psych class the other week and when I got it back I lost points
because the quotation marks in a quote went the "wrong way", what they
meant I believe is that they were mirror images of 'normal' quotation
marks.

How do I fix this so as to avoid losing points on this next time?

Thanks,
j
