Thanks for the confidence and sorry for the delay, I am travelling. Not 
knowing anything about the installation mechanism of i-installer, I 
cannot be sure which part of the installation is blocking there. I don't 
think the problem is Xaw3d related, because it seems to express 
happiness about this part.

Could it be that this is the problem with app-defaults that was 
discussed here a while ago?

That version of the gv.ii2 package tries to install a symlink
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults -> ../../../../etc/X11/app-defaults
which conflicts with the already existing directory 
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults.

Not having access to a Tiger system at the moment, I don't know if this 
directory is present there.

Anyway, the workaround would be to move that directory out of the way 
temporarily, let the i-installer do its thing, and then put it back or 
merge it with what i-installer placed there.
