Load beamer with the option xcolor=dvipsnames (to 
get a broader range of colours)
Load pifont.sty

Then define two new \item commands:

\newcommand{\Xitem}{\item[\color{red}\ding{55}]}
\newcommand{\Citem}{\item[\color{ForestGreen}\ding{52}]}

Use \Xitem for crosses and \Citem for checks 
inside a regular itemize environment.
