The problem I see (with PDFTricks) is:

	Rendering with existing %%BoundingBox: 0 0 612 792
	Calculating Bounding Box...ready. %%BoundingBox: 612 792 0 0
	Creating output file qdl-fig1.eps...ready.
	Error: /configurationerror in --setpagedevice--
	Additional information: [/PageSize [-612 -792]]

Obviously the dimensions of the page are mixed up ... and it plays no
role whether landscape or portrait:

	Rendering with existing %%BoundingBox: 0 0 612 792
	Calculating Bounding Box...ready. %%BoundingBox: 612 792 0 0
	Creating output file qdl-fig1.eps...ready.
	Error: /configurationerror in --setpagedevice--
	Additional information: [/PageSize [-612 -792]]

the dimensions stay the same ... Using latex does not make the curve
appear.
