Nice, but the trouble with MailSmith was that even it stored email
locally it refused to start up without internet connection and one
should use something else to read (an old) email offline

I understand that giving too many options to the users could be
confusing for some of them but I like to have an opportunity to chose
what I like and break things accordingly to my choice :-)
